It's Baby Time!!

Today is the day I've been waiting for....for 9 months! I made it to my scheduled csection date!! Whooo Hooo!! Im so glad this stressful pregnancy will be over in a few short hours and I will be meeting my sweet baby boys!

We started out the day at 5:30am. I hopped in the shower and was ready to go in no time...because I couldnt eat or drink anything before the procedure. We had to be at North West at 7am for a scheduled time of 9:00am.  We said goodbye to Kevin and Kira and were on our way!

When we got there they had me get into my hospital gown and lay in the bed. I was hooked up to all the baby monitors and they took my bloodwork to see if my platelet count had risen to above 100,000. Then the nurses started an IV. While all that was going on the other nurse was trying to find both babies heart beats. After trying for 15 minutes to locate Baby B's heart beat the first nurse called in a second nurse to help her. After another 10 minutes with no luck they told me that would have to do an ultrasound to check the "positions" of the babies. I knew what that meant. They didnt want to check positions but whether Baby B was still alive. This scared me half to death....it seems like its always something! A few minutes later Dr Sarver came in and located both heartbeats on the ultrasound. WHEW!!!

So after that fiasco I met with the nurse anestatist she went over a few things and I was wheeled into the operating room. The nurse anestatist told me that my platelet levels were up to 104,000 but she would have been comfortable giving me a spinal at 70,000 because Im young and healthy. So all that worry for nothing. She started my spinal but had a hard time getting it to go in straight because my ligaments were tight. This was the worst feeling in the world!! I dread getting epidurals and spinals....that is the part I fear the most. So finally after about 5-10 painful minutes of her poking and prodding she called in the anestheiologist to help her. It took him a few tries....the tube kept going in and off to the right so my right leg kept twitching. It went once to the left and FINALLY he got it in. That was the WORST!!

After my spinal I was feeling no pain and I was totall relaxed and ready to meet my baby boys. The put a sheet up in front of me so I couldnt see what was going on....and then Rob came in. The doctor pinched me hard to make sure I couldnt feel anything and she started the procedure. She also had another doctor in the practice (who happens to be her ex husband) assist her in delivering the babies. After a short few minutes and not as much poking and prodding as I expected....Ryan Michael pops over the sheet. My first beautiful boy! Then one minute later...my second beautiful boy Drew Robert makes his appearance. Immediately I could hear them both crying during opposite times. It was the best sound ever! All my worrying during my pregnancy and up to the procedure was suddenly lifted. I had a sense of peace and calm come over me....the most relief I have felt in a long time. My babies were healthy and big. They brought them to their separate isolets, suctioned and cleaned them up. The nurse anestetist was wonderful and took some great pictures for us. She made sure there was an A or B in each pictures so we could tell the babies apart.  Rob was able to hold them and they layed them next to my face for a kiss and some pictures. Quickly after that....the babies and Rob went to the nursery....and I stayed so they could finish me up in the operating room.

I couldnt wait to see how much they weighted!! After the doctors were finshed I was brought to the recovery room for about a half hour. Rob came in to see me and told me their weights. Ryan Michael was born at 9:03am and weight 6lbs 12oz and Drew Robert was born at 9:04am and weighted 7lbs 2 oz. I couldnt have been happier! :)

What seemed like an eternity later....I was wheeled to my post partum room and I got to meet my babies :)

The rest of the day was spent bonding with the babies and sleeping. I was so exhausted and to my surprise only a little bit sore!

Oh Happy Day!!
